Discovering the Unexpected
With Feldenkrais Initiation of Central Patterns in Humans Discovering the Unexpected
Initiation of Central Patterns in Humans by the Feldenkrais-Method ®.
“Functional Integration turns to the oldest elements of our sensory system – touch, the feeling of pull and pressure; the warmth of the hands, its caressing stroke.” —Moshé Feldenkrais
In this presentation, I will report my thirty years of research with people who have Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). I will share with you my extraordinary discoveries with this special population that leads to fundamental insights to our method such as: Sliding my hands along the spine can initiate visible Central Patterns of standing, stepping, and creeping How the fascial network as an organ of perception and communication informs the central nervous system How internal processes can expand the brain maps even for people with SCI (neuroplasticity) How a new self-image opens up new possibilities in life. My hope is that this research leads to new insights that enrich your everyday practice as a student of the Feldenkrais Method and your work as a Feldenkrais or other somatic teacher.
